Description
Welcome to the Leith Run Recreation Area. This multi-purpose development on the banks of the Ohio River is a popular attraction on the Wayne National Forest. Located 18 miles north of Marietta on State Route 7, this fully accessible facility offers a variety of activities. The area will be operated in 2006 by the Wayne NF. It will open on April 14, 2006 and stay open through mid-October. The campground is open 24 hours a day. The day use area is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

There are 18 overnight camping sites available. Each campsite has electrical hookups, grills, fire rings, picnic tables, and lantern posts. Water hydrants are nearby and hot water showers, flush toilets and a conveniently located dump station are also available. The fee for camping is $20/night. Primitive tent sites are available for $10/night (no electricity). A campground host will collect fees from mid April through mid October.
Each of the campsites can accommodate a 40 foot trailer except for site # 9 which can accommodate a maximum of 30 foot trailer.
A variety of activities are available to day users as well as overnight campers. Wooden docks also provide accessible fishing opportunities from the shore.
Two group picnic shelters are available for reservation through the National Recreation Reservation System. The use fee for these shelters when reserved is $55/day. Each shelter has a maximum capacity of 65 people, has water fountains/hydrants nearby, electricity, grills, and picnic tables. The area also offers a volleyball court, a horseshoe pit, river overlooks, and a playground.
A children''s fishing derby is held here annually. This event draws children from a wide area to learn more about the art of fishing and spend quality time in the outdoors.
For wildlife viewing, the site has a state-designated watchable wildlife area. A gazebo, located in the adjacent wetland is accessible by a short paved path and is excellent for wildlife watching.
