Yellow Springs is an interesting and quite liberal town of only 4,000 people. The name is derived from actual yellow springs found in Glen Helen Nature Preserve, which also offers woods and prairies to explore.
Yellow Springs is best known for being a bit hippy with unusual shops and restaurants. Street festivals, craft, book and art fairs round out a year of community events, and you'll find unique herbs, foods, candles and books in the stores along the main streets of the town.
Rock climbing and hiking is available at John Bryan State Park just east of town and Yellow Springs is located on part of a 72-mile bike trail so options for recreation are always plentiful.
Yellow Springs is only miles 10 miles from Springfield, Ohio and 20 miles west of Dayton and is accessible on Rte. 343
